How To
Stay Away From Cigarettes After You've Quit
Sadly, there's no perfect formula.
There's no 100% guarantee, and you have to
understand that right away. YOU are the
only one that controls your smoking addiction.
Almost every ex-smoker has cigarette cravings -
some people succumb while others don't.
What makes the difference? Determination,
mental strength, and personal decision making.
You have to be stronger than your cravings.
You have to be the one that beats your
addiction. While we can help you prepare
for it, you are the only one that can stop
yourself from putting a smoke in your mouth.
Knowing your own weaknesses is the ultimate
key....predicting your own downfall and triggers
will allow you to prepare for future cravings,
and in turn beating them.
"What Do
You Predict Your Downfall Might Be?"
It's a rather morbid way of looking at it, but
you've got a good chance of failing (especially
if you're not properly prepared). There
are so many different types of cigarette
cravings, you'll have to figure out which
afflicts you. Are you a social smoker?
A stressed-out smoker? Do you always want
to light up when you're drinking in a pub,
restaurant, or bar? Is your favorite smoke
the first cigarette in the morning, or the one
immediately after dinner? You need to
assess yourself and determine your own weakness.
If you can predict your own downfall, you'll
have an edge on your cravings. Cravings
never last forever - and that's extremely
important to know. Once you learn how to
beat the your cravings (wherever and whenever
they occur), you've got a good chance of staying
away from cigarettes forever.
Timeframes Bring Different Cravings
While the toughest timeframe for someone quitting
smoking is usually during the first 2 weeks, that's
not the only difficult period. The nicotine
cravings during the first week or two are at their
peak, and that's why we recommend using some form of
nicotine treatment for this period.
After that, the nicotine cravings subside a
little bit more every day and week. Now it's a
mental fight. Your cravings are a big part of
habit - smoking because you always used to smoke.
If you can get by the first stages of quitting
cigarettes, you've beat the toughest part. At
this point you need to maintain your mental
strength, and tell yourself that you are done
forever. If you think you will have willpower
troubles with smoking, you should look into trying
one of our recommended hypnosis programs for
smokers....they will help you beat your long-term
cigarette cravings. |
